Dear John (2010)Is Duty enough reason to live a lie ?
From the best selling author Nicholas Sparks comes a romantic drama about a soldier who is home on leave and falls head over heels in love with this cute girl. In the wake of the attacks on September 11th, 2001 John played by Channing Tatum reenlists in the US Army as Special Forces and has a plan to be apart of the military's operations. That is until he meets this girl named Savannah Curtis played by the romantic Amanda Seyfried. She tells him that it seems that everyone around him is scared of him and that she is one who isn't. He retaliates by telling her that he is scared of her she takes his heart and permanently makes a place in it for herself.
As he is deployed to the operations over seas John and Amanda are staying in touch through writing letters. Each letter is more and more romantic than the last and when he comes back home to reenlist he is no longer sure of what he wants to do. So then he turns to the girl and wants to know what she wants him to do, she of course cannot tell him that as she is plagued between love and what is right. Should she take his dream from him or should she just let him be who he is and hope and pray for his safety. This is a movie that will test your own way of thinking and it gives you some insight to what soldiers' home on leave must experience.
