Happy Tears (2010)There's an art to going home without going crazy.
Rip Torn, Mitchell Lichtenstein, Ellen Barkin, Parker Posey and Demi Moore play in this drama about two sisters that return home to take care of their very old father. However their father seems to have found himself a lady friend and she is at least half his age younger! The two sisters bicker over whether they should or should not put their father in a rest home. But as their fathers impending senile symptoms start showing more and more they decide that the gold treasure that he keeps talking about in his back yard must be found. Together they try everything to find the treasure that they are not even sure between themselves actually exists. After their father Joe gives in and starts to help them locate the gold it becomes reality with it's uncovering.
These two sisters take on the first man they just might not be able to handle: their seventy-something-year-old father Joe. Joe is still singing and playing his old guitar and the lively widower even has energy like a young man on the prow. But as the visible symptoms of their father's impending senile disease show up more and more, so do their dysfunctional family problems. Tensions begin to burn hotter as the two sisters must also juggle their own lives that are in no way even near the same. One sister is rich and happy and the other is living a more every day life. Laura's busy schedule as an environmentalist and mother of two small children, and Jayne, desperate to finally have a baby with her workaholic art-dealing husband Jackson. Any tears that Jayne and Laura might shed will be happy ones even if they find themselves in more mixed up emotions and situations than they originally planned on.
