Knight and Day (2010)
Knight and Day is Tom Cruise's comeback after his brilliant cameo in Tropic Thunder two years ago and after years of PR nightmare about his religion and marriage. The earlier films of Cruise were more like films accentuating his acting skills in drama. Everyone enjoyed his performances and adorable looks. His choices turned to big budget action movies in time and we have watched some of the more successful and fun action movies of Hollywood's golden years of superstars. However, with his personal life taking the main stage and gathering too much attention along with criticism, we had not seen him making a good movie of either kind. After his fun cameo in Tropic Thunder, he must have seen the enjoyable comedy approach and the opportunities it set and he is back with an action comedy starring with cute and sexy Cameron Diaz. Knight and Day is indeed an action and it is more like a parody of Tom Cruise's old action films and this is what makes the film more fun to watch. James Mangold, the successful director of movies like Girl, Interrupted, Walk The Line, 3:10 To Yuma, Heavy has directed the film and he has proven to pull off comedy just like any other drama he magnificently directed. The film is about a couple, Miller (portrayed by Tom Cruise) and June Havens (portrayed by Cameron Diaz). June is a nice woman of a small town who secretly falls for the mysterious, attractive man named Miller. They get closer and become a somewhat out of ordinary couple especially after some uncertain truth about Miller is revealed and they become fugitives. Their run is dangerous, full of action, mistrust, suspicion and these are all combines with a delicious, absurd comedy approach. If you want to see a solid action full of funny scenes resulting from a deliberate comedy, parody angle; you should definitely watch this film.
