Ramona and Beezus (2010)A Little Sister Goes A Long Way.
Ramona and Beezus is an adaptation of the very famous children's books of 60s, and later on. The books which were written by Beverly Cleary started from the character Henry Huggins' point of view and Beezus was one of his best friends. These books presented Ramona as the villain. When the sisters became famous, the Beezus and Ramona series started, from Beezus' point of view. However, Ramona was much more popular than Beezus and the focus of the series turned to Ramona. The film uses the name Ramona first due to this popularity. It stars Selena Gomez as Beatrice 'Beezus' Quimby and Joey King as Ramona Quimby. In Ramona and Beezus, what we expect is what we get: a comedy, family film which ensures the audience to leave the theatre with a big smile in their faces along with their children. The story revolves around the adventures of Beezus and Ramona, two sisters that run through several fun and unique situations that end up putting them together no matter what. It is some kind of a Matilda of Roald Dahl. It is not just a colourful story, but also a feast for the teenagers and children since Disney's loved actress Selena Gomez attracts the young audience while children and adults will be charmed by little cutie Joey King. The other actors are John Corbett as the father, Bridget Moynahan as the mother and Sandra Oh giving life to the funny character Mrs. Meacham. Ramona and Beezus, as part of the general concept of the books of Beverly Cleary, are the two sisters, who despite their abysmal differences and contradictions are united through different experiences. The adults of today who grew up reading Ramona books have been looking forward to this movie and the children of today should see this movie as an introduction of the then famous children's book series. Even though it does not have the concept of the books, it is an introduction of them which were trying to show the children that there are always someone else out there, having similar problems as them and they should not feel alone.
Starring: John Corbett, Sandra Oh, Bridget Moynahan, Ginnifer Goodwin
