Shutter Island (2010)Someone is missing.
Patricia Clarkson, Mark Ruffalo, Max von Sydow, Emily Mortimer, Ben Kingsley, Martin Scorsese, Michelle Williams, Leonardo DiCaprio and Elias Koteas are the main cast in this thriller set in the year 1954. Leonardo plays a US Marshall that is sent with his partner to the remote island called Shutter Island to investigate the escape of a dangerous female prisoner that has murdered. One there he quickly discovers that there is some weird and unforeseen plot taking place. The hospital staff does not want to cooperate with him and he is not allowed into certain rooms nor allowed to look into the hospital’s files. This makes him and his partner very suspicious as to what is actually taking place on the island with the prisoners. All of the prisoners on Shutter Island are violent offenders and in most cases are murderers.
Leonard DeCaprio plays a detective that has a unique connection to the island for some unknown reasons. As time goes on and he and his partner are on the island a hurricane comes and ends up cutting them off from the main land. Left on the island with all the violent people more prisoners start to escape and have to be caught. During this time Teddy Daniels, Leonardo’s character, is able to get into places in the hospital that originally was not allowed. The more time on the island they spend the more Daniels begins to doubt his partner and even his own sanity as if being around the insane is rubbing off on him. As the plot thickens things start to emerge from their investigation that shows that the old ways of the island’s treatments for the criminally insane are actively being used again. This movie has suspense, thrill, a good plot and all around good actors.
