The Secret of Kells (2009)
This animated movie is truly unique and you have probably never seen something like this in your life. The Secret of Kells has a great story, characters that you will fall in love with and it is a masterpiece of the cartoon art. All the members of the crew have really done a great job.
There is one word that can describe the plot – it is a true adventure. The young Brendan lives in a small isolated village during the dark times of the middle ages. He embarks on a journey full of dangers to complete a magical book full of secrets and wisdom. The boy meets mythical creatures such as his helper the fairy Aisling in the forest world that is unknown to him. Eventually Brandon overcomes his fears to become a hero.
You will be truly fascinated with the twists and turns of the story. It has taken a lot from the original Irish folklore, but it has all the aspects of a modern adventure. You will laugh and cry at the same time while you really take part in the journey along with the characters. They, on the other hand, are funny and just like any other kids have pure hearts and sometimes do foolish things. Thanks to their courage and true friendship the good wins.
The animation is perhaps the greatest dignity of The Secret of Kells. You will be able to see the actual drawings that the artists have created. You will feel as if you are watching paintings made with watercolors and pencils become live in front of you. This gives an additional childish charm to the movie as well as a sophisticated style. And this is one of the rarest combinations you can enjoy in the theatre.
